Retrospective films
Holding it with tradition, there will be a selection of classics and rediscovered gems of the Filmacademy again this year. 1952 the Filmacademy was founded as a special course for film design under Walter Kolm-Veltée and, therefore, it is the oldest film school in the German-speaking area. The Retrospective is not to be a historic “freakshow”, but screens films that are able to captivate even under modern points of view. At the same time, it offers the opportunity to trace the specific tradition of the essayistic, reality-committed auteur-cinema that thrives at the Viennese Filmacademy ever since the 1970ies. Movies and documentaries by Götz Spielmann, Ulrich Seidl, Kathrin Resetarits, Kitty Kino and Hermann Dunzendorfer are shown.
Day / time: Sunday April 5, 1 p.m.
Running time: 132min
Cinema: Metrokino
